Health and safety

Code of Conduct

As you prepare for AMJK26, please remember that all attendees agreed to our Event Code of Conduct during registration.

This policy outlines our shared commitment to maintaining a professional, respectful, and safe environment for everyone. We expect all delegates to uphold these standards throughout the event.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a positive experience for all participants. If you have any questions or need to report a concern onsite, please reach out to Tourism Australia event staff immediately.

Health and safety

The health and safety of event participants and the broader community is top priority. If you are feeling unwell, experiencing symptoms of illness, or recovering from a contagious condition, please refrain from attending the event.

Accidents and emergencies

In the event of an emergency, please dial 110 for police, 119 for fire department and ambulance, and report any incidents to Kat Dalziel on +61 416 066 119.

To report any other incidents during Australia Marketplace Japan and Korea, please notify the Tourism Australia team at the information desk or on +61 416 066 119.

In the event of an earthquake

Following the small earthquake on Sunday, 23 August in Tokyo and the Eastern Kanto area, Tourism Australia wanted to ensure you had additional information regarding what to do in the case of an earthquake or power shortage.

Major Earthquake Response (Intensity 5+)

  • For seismic intensities of 5 or higher, emergency broadcasts will be made in five languages (Japanese, English, Chinese, Spanish, and Korean). Depending on the circumstances, these broadcasts may also be issued for intensities below 5.
  • Hotel staff will assist guests in banquet rooms, restaurants, and the lobby by instructing them to take protective action.
  • Unless an immediate evacuation is necessary, staff will guide guests to stay where they are to ensure their safety.
  • Please do not use the elevator.

In the Event of a Power Outage

  • Keio Plaza Hotel maintains emergency power supplies. These ensure that select elevators and emergency lighting remain operational during an outage.

For Hotel Guests (guest rooms)

  • Emergency lighting will automatically turn on in your room, so it will not become completely dark.
  • You may continue to use the toilets and water taps
  • Please note, however, that certain services—including telephones, the internet, general lighting, and power outlets—will not be available during the outage.

For conference room guests

  • Emergency lighting will activate in the banquet halls, so the area will not be plunged into total darkness.
  • Restrooms will be available for use
  • Please note, however, that certain services—including telephones, the internet, general lighting, and power outlets—will not be available during the outage.

Evacuation Area

  • You will generally be asked to remain and shelter inside the hotel.
  • However, evacuation plans may change based on the nature and scale of the emergency, so please follow the guidance provided by our staff.
  • As the Keio Plaza Hotel is located in the Nishi-Shinjuku high-rise district, it is designated as an area where evacuation is restricted.
  • Therefore, guests are not expected to evacuate to large-scale parks, such as Shinjuku Central Park, in the event of a disaster.

Other

All delegates are strongly encouraged to secure comprehensive international travel insurance for the duration of their journey to cover unexpected medical expenses, as healthcare access conditions vary depending on your country of origin.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a key strategic priority for Tourism Australia. We have a vital role to play in elevating the importance, and the appeal, of sustainable tourism. We see sustainability as more than a marketing pillar or a campaign. We aim to make it a consideration in every aspect of our activity as destination custodian and storyteller.

At Australia Marketplace, we are always looking at ways to make environmentally responsible choices and reduce waste. From encouraging delegates to use reusable water bottles, reducing merchandise and event waste, we are working towards building a more sustainable event into the future.
